An Update To The Snack Pantry

We launched the Snack Pantry a little while ago, and we’re excited to see many people already using it to choose snacks and plan future NatureBoxes. However, we also know that adding snacks to your Pantry takes time and thoughtfulness, and we don’t want all of that hard work to go to waste!

In the past, when we processed your monthly box, we removed the top five snacks from your Pantry after we shipped them out to you. Today we are making a small but significant change to the Snack Pantry to help you save your snack selections for future shipments: after we process your order, instead of fully removing all five snacks, we will place them at the bottom of your Pantry so they can eventually rotate back to the top.

To give you a better idea of what this means, let’s say your Pantry looks like this and you are set to rebill today:

When we process your order, we will send you Big Island Pineapple, Flax Fortune Coins, Pear Praline Crunch, Praline Pumpkin Seeds, and Whole Wheat Raspberry Figgy Bars.

When we have finished processing your order, we will move those 5 snacks to the bottom of your Pantry, and shift the whole list up to show you what will come in your next box. When you log into your dashboard after your rebill, you’ll see this:

Now that you know things work, here are some quick tips to help you get the most out of your Pantry:

  • Lock any snacks you want to receive every month. If you want to receive a particular snack each month, click the edit menu next to that snack and choose “always send”. This will lock the snack so that it doesn’t rotate to the bottom of your Pantry next month.

  • If you don’t like a snack, be sure to come back and remove it! You can also click the edit menu to the right of any snack and remove any snacks that you’re not fond of — this will remove it from your Pantry for good (unless you decide to add it back in!).
  • Be sure to keep your Pantry fully-stocked! If we ever need to send you a substitute for one of the snacks in your top five, we’ll simply pull the next snack in your Pantry. That’s why it’s a good idea to keep your Pantry full of snacks you love!

    guess this answers my question of WHY I received my box loaded with stuff I didn’t have on my list!! I liked one out of the 5 different snacks sent!!! 30.00 wasted in my opinion. very disappointed

      Wendi- the same thing happened to me, I am very disappointed as well. I was under the impression that once we chose our items that they would keep sending the same ones. At least they will pull from our pantry from now on but a waste of $30 for me too.

      You do know that if you don’t like the snacks, you can just call them and they will send you ones you like. Your money is not wasted, just call them. Look at the back of the snack bag.

    I miss the "surprise me" option. I keep trying to add it as one of my five picks, but all it will do is add it as an "add on" sixth item for $3. Even when I put it in my pantry and move one of my five items down, it skips over it and puts another item from my pantry in the fifth spot.

      Never mind – I tried it again and this time it worked. (put it in your pantry, move it to the #6 spot, then drop the #5 selection down to under #6 and the Surprise Me option will move up into spot #5.)

    Your webpage/ordering process is the most convoluted mess I’ve experienced in all my years on earth. I’m trying to browse snacks to add to my "box", but there’s so much other crap covering up what I’m trying to look at that it’s like looking through a peep hole! Also, this month I might REALLY like a snack & want to double up on it (which I thought I did last month), but that doesn’t seem to work well. Also, I might feel hoggish & order SIX snacks for only $3.00 extra. There seems to not be a CLEAR way to do this. How about having a user friendly website? Spend the dough & hire someone to streamline your website. It (website) may make perfect sense to you, but I’ve spent $ thousands on hundreds of websites (over the years) & your website could use an update. Now that I think about it, everything is way overpriced & not very tasty. Think I’ll be cancelling my membership (if I can figure out how to do that!).

    Although I did not know that if you did not like something that you could call them and they would replace it, I would have to say that as long as we have been members, it happens only about once every few months. We have so many children that if one doesn’t like it, the other usually will, so it will ultimately get eaten. Can’t think of but maybe four times that nobody liked a particular thing and then it was one thing (or two bags). They ended up in the sports donation bags at HS and again….someone ate them! WHich is why I find Davids reaction so harsh. As to being overpriced, I ordered my first box, then went to the stores over the next month and kept up with how much I spent on snacks for myself alone. I am what is coined a "brittle diabetic" and must always have things like this available. I spent much more and was not getting as healthy of choices. Since s/h is not very much, it comes out actually cheaper. For those that have to buy gluten free…I dare say they won’t be finding so many healthy, tasty choices for $3/bag! In the grocery stores etc it seems the more they have to remove, the more you pay.
    In addition my kids race me for the box to see who gets the first samples of new products, and we have found several ways of ‘re-purposing’ the boxes, so its a win win at every turn in this household!!!

    The new pantry sucks. I can’t drag anything out of it to save for a later box. The only way to get it out of the current box is to delete it. Then if you want it again you have to go find it and add it back to your pantry. Also, I can’t drag or move anything in the pantry anymore, up or down. I have only gotten one shipment so far, but I am thinking about canceling.

    I would love an option added where if you know you do not like a particular snack you could block it from ever being shipped to you again. I like to leave a "surprise" option open but worry that I’ll end up getting a snack that I have in the past received and not enjoyed (it’s happened atleast once already). Adding this "block" option would remedy the situation!

    I agree with David, this website is a mess!!! The screen at the top takes up so much space that you can’t even see the snacks & the snack name at the same time. I am wondering if anyone from your company has even looked at the webpage to see how the customers view it.
    Also trying to add on the extra snack is impossible, it shows a message that states add on the snack but there is no where to click on or do it!
    Website is not user friendly at all!! 🙁

      You realize that what you’re complaining about has more to do with your computer’s resolution than it does the website? I can see two whole rows of snack images (and half a row of a third) and their food names before I even have to scroll down. The webpage is fine. Get a better monitor or change your resolution settings. If you have a problem with this site, you’ll have a problem with a lot more.

        I have to agree that it might be the device that is being used to view the site because I have not had a problem with the site or being able to view multiple lines of snacks either. It definitely sounds like it’s the computer screen or resolution of it.

    I love my NatureBox. It is understandable that not all people will like all treats but I believe it is a great way to pick and choose your snacks and to have the healthy choice SENT to you every month. This is my 6th month and thus far I am very pleased with my purchases. Whatever I don’t eat, my husband does. I also try to get items for him that are the more spicy since I like sweet. He is pleased as well. They are great to take along on hikes and camping trips. Thank you NatureBox for your alternative snacking choices.

    Hi, I have to agree with the comments about this poor website. I landed here when searching for a gift to give a new college grad just starting in her first apartment. She would love this product and I would love to give it to her. However, I’m jumping away from the company now because the website is so very bad. I wonder about quality control of the company as a whole if the path to purchasing is so convoluted. I should be able to simply click on a package for a price, and see what’s IN the package (or be led to the options to select contents). Instead I go right to checkout. I see lots of jobs open at this company; maybe in a year or so when fully staffed they’ll make the purchasing experience more seamless and trustworthy.

    I agree about the website functionality but I am so addicted to several of the snacks that I just put up with it. I do like the changes being made to the snack pantry. I would suggest that you add an "I do not like this snack" option. In my last box, I received a surprise for the first time ever (I heard other people were getting them every month but I never had) and it just so happened to be the only snack I ordered previously and hated so much I emailed to have it replaced in my next box. Very disappointing!
    My fav snacks which I notice going out of stock more and more are the blueberry nom noms. Please look into stocking more of these and more varieties of nom noms (different flavors). And maybe more in each package. Also really like the harvest mix. Consider an all edamame snack.

    First I am so looking forward to my first box However on the site try as I might I go into settings but cant find any way to change my delivery or plan I am going away and want to altervplan and there is NO option for that only for address and credit card very frustrating The $1 test drive on other products would be awesome though thank you so much Latie

      They were in my pantry so I got an email saying that they are removed for the summer because they do not travel well in the heat. From that, I’m presuming they will return in the fall.

    Yes, I also requested a "Do not want" option so that I could continue to try all of the snacks and keep track of what I’ve tried, but I do not prefer. I wrote the company and was issued a form email about how to use the site. I was kind of put off by the fact that I took my time to write them an email for what thought this was a very useful suggestion, but they did not even bother to read it.

    I am now trying to find a specific snack, but can’t find a search option. Is there one?

    Where did the Tuscan summer mix that had the sunflower seeds, sundried tomatoes…etc?… I loved it and do not see it in the pantry this month!?

    There is no my subscription tab under account settings and i want to change my size from the biggest to the smallest. How can i change that?

    I guess folks like sweet stuff, and I do too, but I can’t even eat any of the granola because it’s too sweet.

    I even mixed a small amount into my regular unsweetened muesli and it was still too much.

    And then you have honey roasted sunflower seeds, which not only list honey as an ingredient, but also sugar. Way too sweet.

    It would be great if you added a "do not send me this item" option. the few times i’ve chosen a surprise me snack, I’ve gotten the same item which I do not like.

    I just received my latest box. Not one item is what I had picked out. I was under the assumption that if I chose my items those were the ones I would get every month until I changed them myself. I do not like any of the ones I just received. And if they were out of ones that were in my last box, maybe they should send items similar. My last box had stuff in it I could not eat. I looked through the pantry and saw some of my selected items are still available. I don’t get it. I was told we could choose?

      I ordered my first box and before ordering I sent a email inquiring about the first box selections and was advised that it would include what I selected as my first choices in my pantry. So I am hoping that I get what I selected especially after reading your post Lori, I will be very upset to get items I don’t want.

    I just got my NatureBox today, and four out of the five items were things I could not eat. (I am a diabetic and have to follow a reduced carb diet.) It seems like no matter how many times I tell Naturebox what I want in my box, Naturebox sends me cookies instead. (With sugar as the second ingredient!) I am trying so hard to get my blood sugar down, and the last thing I need is cookies showing up at my house to temp me, when what I asked for were nuts, seeds and beans.

    Naturebox has some tasty flavored nuts, seeds and beans that I can’t get anywhere else. But, why does Naturebox have to make it so hard to get the items I want? Maybe this new update will make it easier to get the foods I need instead of glorified junk food with tons of sugar — but I’m not hopeful. A couple of months ago, Naturebox’s customer service promised me it would be easier to get the items I wanted — and yet today’s box was full of sugary junk I specifically said I didn’t want.

    When you click on the snacks listed in the sale: $1 add on snacks! it just adds the items you’ve selected to the bottom of your pantry with an option to add them to your upcoming shipment for $3.00 It does not add to your upcoming order at all nor does it reflect the the $1 dollar sale price.

    I dont really like the new system. I like choosing my own snacks and do not like it being sent to me without my approval. Some people are allergiv to things that they can not eat. This is not taken into consideration. Please consider going back to the old format or you may loose me a as customer.

    I do not like the new system. When I wanted to change my box for June, it simply kept adding them on as extras at an additional $3.00. Then I had to totally remove items, and lost my added on pantry. The previous way was so much simpler.

    I love the new rotation feature. This is exactly how I want to use Naturebox (i.e., setting up a list of 12-15 constantly rotating snack choices). Only one comment … when I want to move up an option from the pantry (choices 6+) into the "current box" (choices 1-5), it becomes an "add-on" by default. I’d rather it move the last item down into the pantry instead. Current design is kinda of cumbersome.

    I was STUNNED when this months box arrived. NOT one of the snacks were something i would have chosen. completely disappointed. Ten days from moving houses and NOT what i wanted to be dealing with. I am sure its different for everyone but we have our favorites and look forward to the box arriving each month with OUR favs in it, not some random choices made for us.
    Additionally, i have children severally allergic to nuts and food dyes. Not even sure we can or will eat half these snacks we just dropped FIFTY bucks on. NOT HAPPY

    I can’t remember the last time I received a Nature Box that actually included what I ordered. I think I have been using it about 6 months. Especially annoying when the friendly note enclosed says "one" of my snacks was substituted and really it was 3 out of 5 that were subbed. for the most part I am ok with the snacks and variety, but I’d rather spend 20 bucks on snacks I want…. I’m going to give it a month or two more to see if this system improves what I have been getting….so far my recent shipment was supposed to come out of the pantry list and it wasn’t correct. Not crossing my fingers but, hey Nature Box, I’ll give you one more try to get it right before you lose a customer.

    I really do not like the new pantry. I choose my items carefully and the last time I thought they would send the same box. All 5 snacks were things I would not order (though the brushetta pretzels were good). My wife is allergic to coconut, so anytime we get a snack with coconut in it, into the trash it goes. This time i am getting 5 more surprises…what happened to the emails reminding you that a box was about to ship and you had 7 days to make changes?

    We’ve been using Nature Box for over 2 years, and it just keeps improving! Snacks are absolutely wonderful, and I love the customizing of the new pantry. Thanks for all your efforts…you do a great job sending healthy snacks that everyone can enjoy on the go!

    I would like to know if i can get 10 different flavors, because there’s some choices that I don’t want in two double bags, beside the shaytards always had like 10 different flavors, so i really wanna do that too please let me know if I can and how to do it

    Could you please add a feature to view the page for a snack when you click it from the pantry. Often I add a bunch of things and then want to go back and read more about them but I can’t just click on the snack picture or name from my pantry which would be so much easier than going back to the main page just to find each one.

    Also, I would prefer if when I click "PANTRY(X)" in the upper right corner it would actually bring me to my full pantry rather than the useless in between page where I then have to find the tiny writing that says "click here to view your whole pantry."
