Breakfast Hack: Toast 3 Ways

by / ⠀Breakfast Party foods Recipes Side dishes Snack Ideas / August 13, 2014

Getting back into your fall or back to school routine can be easy said as done. Next you prep your morning meal of the day, consider the classic: toast.

Yes, toast.

Whole wheat, rye, sourdough, whole grain – have it however you like. To really get the most bang out of your breakfast buck, add some wholesome and filling ingredients like avocado or your favorite nut butter!

Here are some of our favorite combinations:

1. Avocado, lemon juice and aleppo pepper: Mash half an avocado with a pinch of salt and pepper and a squeeze of a lemon wedge. Sprinkle over it a dash of aleppo pepper for brightness and slightly spicy kick.

2. Almond butter and toasted coconut flakes: Spread a few tablespoons of almond butter and top with toasted coconut flakes for a creamy, filling and naturally sweet meal.

3. Ricotta and raspberry jam: Add creamy ricotta to toast with a splash of raspberry jam. Bonus points if you use a homemade fruit compote!

If you’re looking for even more topping ideas try: peanut butter and sriracha; mashed banana with carob chips; and even orange marmalade with toasted almonds!

I usually use cottage cheese instead of ricotta. Delicious!
