This past month, Team NatureBox recognized Zane Price from Customer Care and Amanda Natividad from marketing for their extra special hard work. We took a few moments to sit down with these two Nomsters of the Month to get the skinny on their quick, go-to dinner recipes, their dream snack box, and lots more!
Question: What’s your ideal midday snack?
Zane: I’m a really hungry man so my snacks are more like a lunch. This would be a roast beef sandwich with lettuce, tomatoes, mustard – just the works. And a glass of mango juice. That would be an ideal snack for me.
Amanda: I’m more of a savory flavor kind of person so midday, I’ll reach for NatureBox Garlic Plantains or Salt and Pepper Lentil Loops! Or maybe some Kung Pao Pretzels. Actually, the Kung Pao Pretzels can get a little spicy for me, so ideally, I would eat a handful of those and then cleanse my palate with one of the Crispy Chews or other Fruit Chews.
Okay, but realistically, what would be a typical midday snack?
Zane: NatureBox snacks including the pistachios and Sriracha Roasted Cashews. But if I’m not at work, my snack would most likely be a donut or a protein shake.
What’s your favorite kind of donut?
Zane: Chocolate Long John, or a chocolate bar.
Amanda: Glazed donut. Always. I have such a weakness for donuts!
What is your go-to 30-minute dinner recipe?
Zane: Chow mein. I love making chow mein. It’s really simple. At your local grocery store, just some angel hair pasta, go to the Asian aisle and pick up some spices. Then an onion and frozen vegetables. And of course you need a work. First you saute the onions, then the frozen vegetables. While that’s warming up you cook the pasta. But if you want some chicken, you can do that too! I like pan-cooking my chicken first then mixing in the vegetables. Then dump the spaghetti and mix it all up. Oh, but you can’t forget the sesame seeds at the end!
Amanda: Something I’ve been making pretty often is “personalized Portobello mushroom pizza.” I’ll usually have cooked quinoa ready to go in a given week. I’ll preheat my oven to 375 degrees, clean up the portobello mushroom, and set aside some marinara sauce, quinoa, and mozzarella cheese. I’ll add a few scoops of sauce onto the mushroom, then a few scoops quinoa, and a few pinches of mozzarella cheese. If I have some fresh basil I’ll add that to the top and bake in the oven until the cheese melts, about 15 minutes.
If you had to pick one NatureBox snack to survive off of for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Zane: I really like Chili Lime Pistachios but I don’t know about eating only that for the rest of my life. But if I were going to survive off of it… almonds for sure. Maybe our Citrus Kick Almonds and our Sweet Blueberry Almonds. But if it’s just to enjoy for the rest of my life, then it would be… hmm, that’s a tough one. I think I’ll go back to my roots and say it would be Dark Cocoa Almonds. When I first started at NatureBox, we had them in our Snack’n Corner near the kitchen, and I would eat them every day.
Amanda: For survival purposes, I think I’d pick Sour Cream and Onion Almonds. If it’s just for flavor, Garlic Plantains or Salt and Pepper Lentil Loops for sure.
Which five snacks would you pack in your dream NatureBox?
Zane: With no additional Market Edition snacks? You’re killing me! Ok, fine. It’ll be Big Island Pineapple, Dark Cocoa Almonds, Sriracha Roasted Cashews, Chili Lime Pistachios, and Blueberry Almond Bites.
Amanda: Hmm… I’m choosing this carefully. Garlic Plantains, Salt and Pepper Lentil Loops (I’m telling you, I’m obsessed!), Pumpkin Spice Nom Noms, Tart Apple Mango Crispy Chews, and Blueberry Greek Yogurt Pretzels. Or Strawberry Greek Yogurt Pretzels. No, no, I’ll stick with blueberry.
Zane: I want an add-on snack for my box! Let’s put the Blueberry Greek Yogurt Pretzels!
